Bring your listand your archive.
Bring your list from any platform as a spreadsheet, paid links via your Stripe. A full Ghost export imports intact. Here is exactly what comes across from where you are now, and what does not.
What comes across,platform by platform.
- Posts, pages and tags
- ✓ Universal import
- Members
- ✓ Members CSV
- Settings
- ✓ Imported
From Ghost: everything, intact.
This is the easy one. A full Ghost content export — posts, pages, tags and settings — goes in through "Universal import", because it is the same underlying format. Members come across in their own CSV through Members, linked to the Stripe account you connect. If you are moving from self-hosted Ghost or from Ghost(Pro), your archive comes with you intact.
TribeTale vs Ghost →- Subscribers
- ✓ Imported
- Paid status
- ✓ Via your Stripe
- Post archive
- By hand or converter
- Paid billing
- Stays with Substack
From Substack: your list, free and paid.
Substack lets you export your subscriber list as a spreadsheet, and TribeTale imports that directly. Paid subscribers keep their status when their subscription is in the Stripe account you connect: their Stripe customer ID in the file links them. Posts are the harder half: Substack's export is not a format we can import in one click, so archives currently come across by hand or with a converter. We would rather tell you that now than after you have moved.

- No importer
From beehiiv: your list, paid status included.
beehiiv exports subscribers as a spreadsheet and TribeTale imports it directly. Paid subscribers keep their status when their subscription is in the Stripe account you connect: their Stripe customer ID in the file links them. Post archives do not move in one click — we do not have a beehiiv importer, and we would rather say so than let you find out afterwards.

From Kit, or anywhere else.
Export your subscribers from wherever they are now and import the file here. Labels come across, and paid subscribers are linked by their customer ID in the Stripe account you connect. Kit is also one of the 10 email tools TribeTale syncs members into, so you can keep it and run both.
TribeTale vs Kit →Three steps,in this order.
- 01
Export your list
Download your subscribers as a CSV from the platform you use now, with Stripe customer IDs if you have paying readers. Moving from Ghost? Take a full content export as well as the members CSV.
- 02
Connect Stripe first if anyone pays you
Paid status comes across by linking each row to its customer in the Stripe account you connect (Creator and up), so connect it before you import. Free subscribers need no Stripe.
- 03
Import, then tell your readers
Select or drop the CSV in Members; labels come across. A Ghost content export goes in Settings, Import/Export, "Universal import". Connect your domain, then send your readers a note that you have moved.
What doesn'tcome across.
- Substack and beehiiv post archives. Neither imports in one click today. Substack archives come across by hand or with a converter; we have no beehiiv post importer.
- Substack paid billing. Paying subscribers' billing relationship is with Substack and cannot be transferred to your Stripe account. Plan a migration message.
- Their networks. Substack's recommendations and beehiiv's ad network only work inside those platforms. We have no equivalent.
The honest comparison, including where they win.

What do I need to export?
Will my post archive come across?
Moving from Substack: will my paying subscribers have to re-enter their card?
Should I actually replace Kit with this?
Can I leave TribeTale later?
Can I move today?
