Analytics and advertising cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand site use, and Google Ads, Meta Pixel, X and LinkedIn Insight to measure and show our ads. TikTok Pixel may be added later; it is currently disabled. These services can use the following cookies when allowed:

• Google Analytics 4: _ga and _ga_* distinguish visitors and maintain session state, usually for up to two years.
• Google Ads: _gcl_*, including _gcl_au (about 90 days), supports advertising measurement and attribution.
• Meta Pixel: _fbp (about 90 days) helps recognize visits and measure ads; _fbc (about 90 days) supports attribution when a visitor arrives from a Meta ad link carrying fbclid.
• TikTok Pixel, if enabled: _ttp (about 13 months) supports advertising measurement and matching.
• X: _twclid and muc_ads (about two years) support click attribution and advertising.
• LinkedIn Insight: li_*, including li_fat_id (about 30 days), bcookie (about one year) and lidc (about one day), support attribution, browser identification and routing.

Lifetimes are approximate, may be refreshed on visits and may be shortened by your browser. Vendor settings and browser restrictions affect which cookies are set.

Consent before advertising

Visitors in the EU/EEA, UK, Switzerland and associated timezones get an Accept or Reject choice first. Reject is the decline option. Unknown or ambiguous timezones, including UTC and GMT, also require Accept before advertising pixels load. Elsewhere, pixels load by default unless you have rejected, opted out or enabled Global Privacy Control.

The GA4 script loads everywhere. Google Consent Mode defaults analytics storage and advertising signals to denied in the EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland using Google's IP region detection. Google may receive cookieless pings before Accept. Reject denies analytics and advertising consent; Accept grants them, except that an advertising opt-out or GPC always wins for advertising.

Meta, Google and TikTok may use automatic hashed advanced matching only when advertising is allowed, and only after consent where required. This site has no forms to supply matching data. We do not send form information to X or LinkedIn for matching. See our privacy policy for details.

Remembering your choices

• tribetale_consent_v1 in localStorage remembers Accept or Reject.
• tribetale_ads_optout_v1 in localStorage remembers your advertising opt-out, including GPC.
• tribetale_ads_optout_notice_v1 in sessionStorage is a temporary marker consumed after a reload to show an opt-out confirmation once.

The localStorage choices have no automatic expiry and stay until removed. They apply to this site and browser.

Change your choices

Use Cookie choices to clear your saved cookie choice and reload; where the banner appears, choose Reject to withdraw consent. Clearing your browser's site data restores the defaults described above.

Use Do not sell or share my personal information to opt out of targeted advertising, including under US state privacy laws. The page reloads to stop already-loaded pixels. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) as an advertising opt-out even if you later accept cookies. This opt-out leaves analytics controlled separately. You can also manage cookies in your browser and ad personalization in your platform accounts.
