About
Why this exists.
TribeTale is built and run by Codas Labs, LLC, a North Carolina company.
The argument
Every newsletter platform tells writers they own their audience. Most of them mean you can export a spreadsheet. The address is theirs, the payment relationship is theirs, the reader app is theirs, and a percentage of your revenue is theirs for as long as you keep earning it.
We think ownership is a set of specific, checkable things: whose domain is it on, whose account does the money land in, can you take the paying subscribers with you, and does the community survive if you leave. TribeTale is an attempt to answer all four the same way.
Built on Ghost
TribeTale is a fork of Ghost, which is open source, independent and excellent. We added a control plane for running several publications, community integration, marketing-tool sync, bring-your-own sending, an assistant layer and audio narration. We are not going to pretend the thing we chose to build on is bad — if plain Ghost is what you need, use plain Ghost.
Where we are
Pre-launch. No paying customers yet, which is why there are no testimonials, logos or case studies anywhere on this site. Every number published here is a counted property of the product, verified against its source code and dated.
What we will not do
Take a percentage of your revenue. Hold your subscribers' payment relationship. Make it hard to leave. Publish a number we cannot show you the working for.
Your tribe. Your tale.
Your terms.
